Bright Beginnings Preschool opened in August of 2002 with two employees and five children after director Carrie P arris and Russell and Lanette Hanna purchased the
facility across from Blinn College in Bryan during the summer. Today, the Readers’ Choice for “Best Preschool” has 20 employees and 90 children.

“We are very honored to become so highly regarded so quickly,” Parris said. “The parents of our current and former students are to be thanked for spreading the word about us.”

Parris credits her staff for the success of the program.

“I believe we were voted the best for a number of reasons, each reason goes directly back to the staff. I try to outline the basic rules, policies and procedures and then encourage them to be themselves. We have an incredible team that works together to make Bright Beginnings a success. I am very lucky to have such dedicated, positive and caring individuals,” she said. “Our lead teachers are stable and consistant, most have been with us since the beginning. Structure and positive reenforcement are critical to our learning environment.”

As director, Parris allows her teachers to create a classroom that encourages individualism.

“I have four classrooms serving ages 18 months thru prekindergarten with a lead teacher in each room. I try to give them enough autonomy to create an individual personality for each of their own rooms. Again, encouraging them to be themselves and enjoy their jobs. You have to love your job if you are going to work with children. We have a lot of fun and the children have a lot of fun while learning,” Parris said.

Last year, Bright Beginnings teamed with KidsVision, a company that provides parents with on-line streaming video of their child’s classroom.

“A parent can watch their child on their home or work computer at any time during the day,” Parris said. “This really adds a security feature to our school. A parent knows what is happening at school with their child.”

Bright Beginnings also provides computer and spanish labs, along with subjects like life skills and animal and life science.

Parris and the staff of Bright Beginnings was honored to accept the award for best pre-school.

“Thank you for voting us the best and thank you for sharing your children with us. We will continue to work hard at providing educational and developmental services for children
in a safe, caring and fun environment,” she said.
