While other businesses may say
they value honesty, Mobley Pool
Company, along with winning The
Eagle’s Readers’ Choice Award for
best pool, also w as recently recognized
for their integrity. Mobley Pool
Company was recently a finalist for
the Better Business Bureau’s Torch
Award, which recognizes excellent
ethics in business. Seven finalists are
selected based upon input from the
community.
Owner Gary Mobley said, “Just
to be a finalist is a great thing. I feel
honored that people would take the
time and effort to vote for us for
the Readers’ Choice Award. After 33
years of paying the dues, this recognition
makes it feel like I’ve done
something right.”
Mobley graduated from college and went to work for the original “Mobley Pool Guy,” his father.
“My Dad was always in business for himself. I never really thought I would go to work for somebody else. I always knew my Dad and I would work together. It didn’t even cross my mind to work somewhere else,” he said.
Mobley said it is company policy
to be honest and do the best job
possible. “We stay informed so we
can inform the customer. However, I
tell my employees ‘If you don’t know
the answer, just tell the customers, ‘I
don’t know, but I will find out as soon
as possible.’ People respect an honest‘I don’t know’ a lot more than a made
up answer,” he said.
Integrity is also an internal trait between Mobley and his employees.
“I feel obligated to do my best
for Mobley Pool Company because
the families of the employees are
depending on the business for their
livelihoods. I obviously cannot do
it by myself, so I need to take care
of the employees I have. I have had
two employees for 25 years now. I
treat my employees like they are part
of the business, not working for the
business.”
One of the best compliments Mobley said he receives is business referrals from others within the community."
I sell more pools from referrals than any other form of advertising,” he said. “When you refer someone, you are going out on a limb for that person. People in the homebuilding industry as well as the private sector recommend us to build their pool. It is great that when pools come up in conversation around our area, Mobley Pool Company is mentioned in the same sentence. It makes me feel good that when customers are told by other customers, ‘If you want the best built pool, you want a Mobley pool.’”
