The South Texas market of
Cingular actually began service in
this area as Houston Cellular and
Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems 21
years ago, in 1985. Our headquarters
is located in San Antonio, which is
also the home of our majority parent,
SBC, now AT&T. The company
became Cingular Wireless in January
2001.
It is a great honor to be voted the
best wireless provider. We work hard
to provide the best wireless products
and services possible, and it is fantastic
when your readers feel that we are
the best. It also is a great reflection on
our employees, who we feel are the
best in the business. Wireless is one of
the most competitive businesses there
is, and it is because of our employees’ continuous commitment and dedication
to serve our customers, that we
have received this prestigious award.
There’s no single reason Cingular Wireless was voted best. Certainly, we have goals and objectives for which we strive, and this award demonstrates that our approach is successful. What are those goals?
First, we value our customers and
treat them with respect, providing
friendly, courteous, knowledgeable
and prompt service with every interaction.
We seek and are driven by our
customer’s feedback.
Second, we must offer compelling
products and services. We offer
products our customers want to use
and services they want and need that
help them communicate and simplify
their lives. We have the greatest array
of handsets, such as the RAZR, SLVR,
TREO and the new Pantech 300 that
is the smallest camera flip phone in
the world! We also offer BlackBerry,
and laptop data cards, just to name
a few.
Third, the basis of a great wireless
company is a great network. Cingular
continues to pour millions of dollars
into our network to provide the
best possible service so our customers
can use their phones whenever and
wherever they want. Last year, we
spent about $500 million in Texas,
and this year we will spend more
than $346 million. That’s a significant
investment, and more than any other
wireless carrier is committing to this
great state.
Lastly, great customer service.
Cingular Wireless lives by one overarching philosophy: The Customer Rules! This philosophy guides how we serve our customers. The bottom line is we always ask ourselves:“What else can I do to make the customer happy?”
If customers have problems, our employees are trained to make the Cingular experience easy and hasslefree and the goal is to solve it the first time. Our sales people are the face of Cingular to our customers, and they deliver on our promise, setting expectations of excellence from the start.
The guiding principles of how we interact with our customers are that we: take ownership and show we care, are responsive and deliver, do it right, make it seamless and meet our commitments. It is by delivering on our promises that earns us our customer’s respect and their business.
At Cingular, we respect our
employees and treat them like professionals.
We give them the tools they
need to do their jobs, and then we let
them perform. We also spent a lot of
time giving our employees information
about the goals and objectives of
our company so they fully understand
where we are going as a company.
Our top leadership spends much time
throughout the year actually visiting
work locations to explain our strategy,
but more importantly to hear directly
from employees their concerns and
issues. Employees respect the fact
that their top leadership cares enough
about them to come down and meet
them face to face. It demonstrates we
mean what we say, and that translates
into confident employees who know
they are working to achieve a common
goal—serving our customers to
the best of our ability and making our
company successful.
Experience has shown that where the networks are integrated, our customers have a better call experience, and that’s what we expect everywhere.
Thank you for your confidence
in us. We work hard to satisfy our
customers, and feedback is important
to help us better serve their needs. So,
we like to hear from our customers
about how we are doing. It is our goal
to only get better on a daily basis!
