The Pharmacy Shop was voted “Best Pharmacy” in the Brazos Valley
by the The Eagle readers. The pharmacy
first opened for business in 1974.
Judi Henneke joined the company as a
partner in 1996 and became sole owner
in 2000.
“The pharmacy’s goal has always
been to provide a unique type of pharmaceutical
care and customer service,”
Henneke said. “The Pharmacy Shop
prides itself in getting to know our customers.
As well as taking that extra step
to be sure the needs of our customers
are met. For example, if a customer can
no longer drive, free delivery is provided
to get their medications to them. If an
individual does not understand their
medication or insurance issues, time is
spent on explaining them. Over the past
few months, free guidance was given to
hundreds of senior citizens in finding a
Medicare Part D Plan that was right for
their specific needs.”
The Pharmacy Shop is an independent
pharmacy that is pharmacist owned.
The owner-pharmacist is present
everyday, providing a sense of comfort
and familiarity to the customers and a
special bond that extends beyond a typical
customer/employee relationship. The
pharmacy’s employees are an important
part of the store ’s success, and this special
bond also forms between the employees
and customers. “Our customers are
greeted by name and time is always
given to address any special concerns
or issues that the customer may have,
such as checking their blood pressure or
counseling them on the use of glucose
monitors. A familiar face is always present
for our customers,” she said.
“Future goals for the pharmacy
include expanding our educational programs
for the community and for our
customers. Disease states like diabetes
are growing and t he public needs h elp in
understanding this disease and in controlling
it. I plan to become cert ified in
Diabetes Education this August so that I
can more knowledgeably conduct seminars
and explain the issues in a manner
that everyone understands,” Henneke
said. “We also plan on expanding our
long-term care facility, Brazos Valley
Long Term Care, by providing unit dose
packaging and free delivery to more
facilities in the outlying areas.”
The Pharmacy Shop is honored to accept the Readers’ Choice Award for“Best Pharmacy.”
