Some businesses achieve success through hustle and constant movement. However Galleria Day’s Spa niche is providing a place were people can catch their breath and relax for a time. The spa has done so well at providing this service the establishment won The Eagle’s Readers’ Choice award for “Best Day Spa.”

Manager Cindy McFeron said,“We are all extremely humbled to receive this award. We attribute our success to our clients that come
through our door. It warms our hearts that they would take the time to give back to us. Winning this award is an indication we are doing something right. ”

The Galleria Day Spa first opened its doors under the ownership of Lucia Adams, but is currently owned by Susan Flippen.

“The day spa had very humble beginnings under Lucia Adams, but she was able to build it up. A lot of her success is attributed to the wayshe treated the community. She just really went out of her way to take care of clients and has been involved in supporting wellness throughout the community,” she said. “Under the leadership of Susan Flippen, the day spa has continued to serve the community as well as add a retail line of blankets and robes from Kashwere as well as several popular lines of skin care products, including Decleor, as endorsed by Oprah Winfrey. Additionally, to Susan, it is not just an investment in the business, it is an investment in the lives of the people who work there.”

McFeron said the workers at the spa strive to create a place where clients can come to relax, and this is a needed service for the area.

“As soon as a client walks through the door, they are greeted by a receptionist in our ‘living room’ area. They are offered drinks- we have an assortment of hot teas available- as well as fruit or cookies. We want our visitors to feel at ease from the time they enter until the time they leave,” she said. “This spa is a place where people can let go of the stresses in their life for a little bit. In addition to stress management, we also offer pain management.”

An integral part of a stress-free environment is stress-free employees.

“Under the leadership of Susan Flippen, all of the workers at the Galleria Day Spa have agreed to a social contract. The whole staff came up with it, and we agree to treat each other with respect, honor and dignity. If we have an issue that needs to be discussed, we do so as soon as possible. It is more of a family relationship,” McFeron said. “Susan Flippen has always strived for a sense of unity in the spa, and with that unity has come a sense of peace. And people can feel that when they walk through our doors.”

McFeron said there are other factors of the spa’s success.

“Our therapists have several years of experience. We also try to create an atmosphere comfortable to women and men. We are not located in a strip mall, it is a nice, cozy home that really puts people at ease,” she said.

While a business, McFeron said the emphasis is not on financial profits.

“Of course we are a business, but the well-being of our clients is what is important to us. We have clients that some times come and relax on the couch or have tea here, even if they are not receiving any treatments. We want our clients’ visit to be a peaceful, healing time. We want each client to have their own special experience here, Our emphasis is on healing the community. Perhaps that is why we’ve been so successful,” McFeron said.
