Chicken Express began in
Benbrook, TX in 1988. Twelve years
later, College Station saw its first
Chicken Express open with owners
Clayton and Jana Rhoades. Readers
of the The Eagle selected Chicken
Express for “Best Chicken” in the
2006 Readers’ Choice awards.
“I grew up with the people that started the franchise,” Jana said. “They believe in serving an outstanding product with excellent customer service.”
Both Clayton and Jana are graduates of Texas A&M. After going to school in the area, they decided to open up a Chicken Express in College Station.
“Bryan and College Station are both amazing cities. We love living here and having our business here,” Jana said.
One of the attractions of Chicken
Express is their use of Dublin Dr.
Pepper. The original bottler of Dr.
Pepper, in Dublin, TX, continues to
use pure cane sugar as its sweetener,
rather than high fructose corn syrup.
Another highlight at Chicken
Express is their fresh brewed sweet
tea.
“When we ask people if they have eaten with us, they always say how much they love our sweet tea and chicken tenders,” Clayton said. A customer quickly notices the friendly atmosphere the employees and managers create at each of the Chicken Express locations.
“We pay attention to every detail
as owners and operators. We make
sure everything is pleasant for the
customers,” Clayton said. “We have
phenomenal managers that believe in
the same things we do.”
“Positive attitudes are contagious,”
Jana added. “We are always
positive about our job, and that goes
on to our managers, which in turn
goes on to the employees, then finally
to the customer.”
Clayton and Jana were excited to have their business voted as “Best Chicken.” They hope to expand the Chicken Express brand to Bryan in the near future.
“We are so grateful for the support
we have from the community.
Our customers have become our
friends, that is a true gift,” Jana said.“It is very exciting and rewarding to
know that the community thinks so
highly of us and our company.”
