Olson took ownership of Play It
Again Sports a year-and-a-half ago.“In those 18 months we’ve cleaned
up the overall appearance of the store
and adjusted the inventory to better
meet the needs of our customers. When
a customer walks in the door and stops
in their tracks, looks around, and says,‘Wow, you’ve got a great looking store
here!’ that is special. You know you are
doing something right. We have worked
for the past 18 months to become more
customer oriented. Being selected as the
best sporting goods store shows t hat we
must be doing something right.”
Play It Again Sports offers several advantages to customers.
“Most people don’t realize that over 90 percent of our inventory is brand new equipment. We are a locally own ed and operated store that is part of a national franchise consisting of over 400 stores in the US and Canada. With that many stores, Play It Again Sports has huge buying power. This means lower prices for our customers,” Olson said. All of our employees are trained on the advantages and disadvantages of every piece of equipment we sell, including, golf, fitness, hockey, tennis, baseball, softball, you name it. We greet every customer at the door and welcome them to Play It Again Sports. If they just want to look around – that’s fine. We tell them, ‘If you have any questions, just let us know.’”
Play It Again Sports fitness equipment is set up in the store so customers can try it before buying it.
“A major factor in purchasing fitness
equipment is that it feels right
for the customer. If it doesn’t feel right
they will be less apt to use it. If they are
researching purchasing a treadmill, we
show them what to look for and explain
how treadmills work. We even offer that
if they should have any questions while
researching at other stores to feel free to
give us a call and we’ll be glad to help,”
Olson said.
