Tiger Woods began playing golf
at age three and a year later displayed
his skills on television on The Mike
Douglas Show. Pablo Picasso painted “Picador” at age eight, which is the
same age Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
penned Symphony No. 1. Tatum
O’Neal won an Academy Award for
Best Supporting Actress at age 10 for “Paper Moon” and Sho Yano graduated
summa cum laude from Loyola
University Chicago at age 12. All were
considered child prodigies in their
chosen field.
Buppy Simank is the wunderkind
of feeding people. In 1984, at age
15, Buppy began in the business by
washing dishes after school for the
former owner of a barbecue restaurant
and catering service. He was a quick
learner, and it wasn’t long before he
worked his way up the ladder. In
1990, he became a partner in the
business, and five years after that he
bought out his partner and changed
the name to Buppy’s Catering. The
rest is history.
Buppy’s Catering was recently named Best Catering Service in the Brazos Valley for the fourth consecutive year in The Eagle’s Readers’ Choice Awards.
“I cannot begin to describe how
humbled and appreciative I am to
receive this honor,” Buppy said. “We
strive every day for excellence. We
want to continue to improve what we
do each and every day. So to receive
such a complimentary award from the
community we serve is extremely gratifying.
I would just like to say ‘Thank
You’ to Bryan-College Station.”
No job is too big or too small for
Buppy’s Catering; from a small backyard
gathering, t o football tailgate
party, to elegant formal wedding, to
huge convention at the George Bush
Presidential Library & Museum -
Buppy’s approaches each job with the
same enthusiasm.
The secrets to success for Buppy’s
Catering are a reputation for listening
to the wants and needs of his
customers and, of course, great food
at a reasonable price. He has catered
events throughout Texas, all the way
to El Paso, and h as had the pleasure
of catering such celebrities as Willie
Nelson, Reba McIntyre, REM, George
Strait, Brooks & Dunn and Joan Jett.
He has also served Chuck Norris at
his ranch just outside Navasota and
frequently provides catering services
to Texas A&M University, as well as
high school and college sports teams.
Buppy is proud of his experienced
staff of 30 to 40 employees
and recognizes their importance to
his business.
“No one member is more important than another, from the dish washer all the way up to the general manager,” Buppy said. “If the silverware is not clean it does not matter how good the food is, because nobody wants to eat with a dirty fork.”
Logical thinking from a former dish washer and people-feeding prodigy.
